Publisher Description
Lions are one of the most favorite animals of human being. Being termed the king of animals, people love them for their fierceness and courage. We can now easily find lions in zoo and circus, where they are usually the main subjects of the show.
Lions live for ten to fourteen years in the wild, while in captivity they can live longer than twenty years. In the wild, males seldom live longer than ten years, as injuries sustained from continual fighting with rival males greatly reduce their longevity.
There are about 7 to 9 types of lion, which the exact number is under debate. There is the North African Lion, also known as the Barbary Lion who is the largest of the tree breeds. They are extinct in the wild and there are less then 200 left in captivity.
The Asiatic Lion also known as the Indian or Persian lion is the smallest, there are fewer then 400 in the wild and not very many left in captivity.

Northeast Congo Lion, is found in the northeastern parts of the Congo.
